Comin' Attcha Live: Opening the AOE Swag Box and an Artsy Book Order!

Hey, y'all! I was so excited to see these two boxes on my doorstep this afternoon (one from The Art of Education and the other my Artsy Book Club order, I made a wee film of myself opening them up! First up, the swag box from the Art of Education's online summer 2014 conference. If you aren't signed up for the conference yet, there's still time. I did make a BIG mistake in this clip when I said the conference is on Wednesday. It's actually Thursday, July 17th. I'll be there (with some art teacherin' rock stars) presenting at noonish. I hope to chat with you live at the conference! Now, let's talk swag, shall we?

Y'all, this box was amazing! You'll have to watch the clip to see what's inside...however if you can't stand the sound of my annoying voice (I promise within the first 30 seconds you will be so.over.it.) I did snap a pic of the loot. It's so good, you guys! Check it:
While I was oohing and ahhing over the contents, someone was makin' herself at home in the box.
"WHAT?! If it fits, I sits. DUH."
(that face. I don't even know.)
Anyone else gotten their books yet? I'm excited to start creating and pirating with y'all!

And, there you have it! I do hope you enjoy these completely unedited and obnoxious clips. I'd love to do more...but I'd also love to keep the handful of readers that I have. Thanks for dropping by, y'all.

I'll see you at the AOE Conference on Thursday. In the meantime, let's read some good books and watch kittens crawl in boxes, emkay? Chat with ya soon!

  1. Hi Cassie!
I was spray painting my art stools, and formerly rusty brass mailbox, when the mail lady walked up my driveway and pulled a box out of her bag. I was pretty excited and thanked her while hopping up and down. She walked away with a big smile on her face (that felt better than getting my box!). I grabbed the lid from the spray paint and worked to break the tape seal to get to the contents. How exciting to see all the goodies! Love the "make and take" oil pastel art lesson. Cannot wait to play! Super excited for my first online conference and have three other art teachers joining me as we are hoping to see if our district will accept the PD/CPDU's. Just finished my M+30 with the last 9 hours from AOE! Wish I had found them earlier! Regardless, it has changed the way I teach and I'm on my 30th year! Thanks for your passion. It's contagious <3

    1. I'm sure it made the mail-lady's day that you were so excited! I'm pretty stoked as well...and I'm in my 16th-ish year teaching. I think no matter where you are in your art teacherin' career, as long as you still wanna learn, you still have the fire in ya! Let's just hope it's not ON ya, ouch ;) Thanks for your kind words!

    1. I bet you'll get it today, Heidi! I think they had to send 'em out in waves because of the high volume. I know I was all set to email Jessica and be like, "girl, where my box?!" I'm so glad you are in the Book Club, yay!!

  3. Ladies, what is this book club you speak of? I'm curious (and I have a cute kitty that usually sits right on top of whatever I'm doing including walking across the laptop keyboard!).

    1. It's a book club I started! The above are the two books that were picked by readers (I took a poll on this here blog a week or so ago). You can join by going to the FB page I created! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Artsy-Book-Club/390119534457530?focus_composer=true&ref_type=bookmark

  5. I've been AWOL. Between a sequence of creepy medical incidents followed directly by this Santa Fe excursion, I haven't had a chance to think about the book club this time around (though I did take a moment to vote. But I voted for one of the other books... the story of my life, I guess. My choices are always opposite of the rest of the universe it seems.). Anyhow - even if I don't get to it this time around, I'll be paying attention to what you all do and will hopefully get back in sync next time.

    1. I hope you are on the mend now! I cannot wait to hear about Santa Fe, I know you had an incredible time! I'll keep you in the book club loop -- I'll miss seeing your creations! You always contributed amazing drawings during the other book club reading :)
